How Much to Rent a Scooter in Langkawi for a Week?
⚡ Quick AnswerA week of scooter rental in Langkawi with BitScoot starts from about RM210 for 7 days on a Modenas Kriss 110 (from RM30/day), plus a refundable RM100 deposit. From May to October, rentals of 4 or more days can get 10% off the rental subtotal (at BitScoot's discretion, T&C apply), so a week on the Kriss can work out around RM189. Every scooter comes with a full tank, two helmets and third-party insurance — you just return it at the same fuel level.

Planning a week on the island and want the whole number, not just the per-day rate? Fair enough — that's how most of us budget. Below is how a 7-day scooter rental in Langkawi actually adds up, using BitScoot's "from" rates, the refundable deposit, a little petrol money, and the few charges that only show up if you return late. I'll keep it honest and local.

The short version: a week, model by model

A rental day is 24 hours from pickup, so seven days is simply the daily rate times seven. Here are typical low-season starting totals (the rental itself is paid at pickup):

The 300cc+ bikes (Honda ADV 350, Honda X-ADV 350, Yamaha XMAX, SYM Husky 300, Zontes 368) are RM150/day — about RM1,050 for seven days, availability on request. These are "from" prices — peak season (public holidays and events) is higher.

Do you need a licence?

For any scooter, you're expected to hold a valid motorcycle licence, and foreign riders should carry an International Driving Permit (IDP). If you only have a car licence, an AM/50cc licence, or no motorcycle licence, don't assume yes or no from a blog — the team handles those cases personally and may rent under a signed own-responsibility acknowledgement. Message them first with your licence details and they'll tell you where you stand.

Licence note for the bigger bikes

The Yamaha XMAX and Honda ADV 350 have a stricter rule. Malaysian customers need a Class B1 or full Class B licence — B2 is not accepted. Foreign customers must have both a valid home-country motorcycle licence and an IDP. If you're eyeing one of these for the week, check the model pages (Yamaha XMAX, Honda ADV 350) and confirm with the team first.

The 4+ day discount knocks a bit off

Between May and October, rentals of 4 or more consecutive days get 10% off the rental subtotal (at BitScoot's discretion, T&C apply). That turns a week on the Kriss from RM210 into roughly RM189, the Beat from RM280 to RM252, and the Vario from RM315 to about RM283.50.

If you also book a tour or activity with BitScoot — jet ski, Kilim mangrove or quad-bike — you get an extra 5% off the scooter rental only (also May–October, T&C apply). The two can stack, but never more than 10% + 5% on the scooter, and the tour price itself is never discounted.

One important note for anyone travelling now: November to April is peak season, with no discount except at the company's discretion. So for a peak-season week, budget the full daily rate times seven.

The refundable deposit (and the one fee that isn't)

On top of the rental you leave a refundable security deposit, returned when the scooter comes back in the same condition:

When you book online, RM100 is charged (RM105 — that's RM100 plus a 5% card fee) and becomes your deposit. For 155cc and above, the remaining RM100 of the deposit is paid in cash at pickup. The deposit comes back when the scooter returns in the same condition; the 5% card fee (RM5) is a real, non-refundable cost, so count it in your budget.

Petrol for a week

Every scooter leaves with a full tank of RON95, and you return it at the same level. Scooter tanks are small, so fuel is a small part of the week's cost — petrol prices change weekly, so check the current rate at the pump. How much you spend over a week depends entirely on how far you ride and which model you're on, so there's no fixed weekly figure — a short-hop week costs far less than a daily-waterfall-and-coast-road week.

Delivery: free if you're close to the airport

BitScoot's store is right next to Langkawi International Airport, so you can land and be riding in about five minutes. Airport pickup is free (meet at Arrival Door 3), and hotel delivery is free within 1km of the airport.

Staying at Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah or Kuah? Delivery or collection runs RM20–RM30 each way, depending on the area — tell the team the hotel or place name and they'll confirm the exact fee. Rentals of 10 days or more may get free delivery at BitScoot's discretion. (Pantai Cenang is a 15–20 minute ride from the airport, by the way — not walking distance.)

The charges most people forget

Late return. The clock is 24 hours from pickup. You get up to 1 hour free; 1–3 hours late is RM10 per hour; more than 3 hours counts as a full extra day. Easy to avoid once you know it.

Early return. No refund for unused days (at BitScoot's discretion), so don't over-book — a clean 7 days is tidier than 8 "just in case."

Insurance. Every rental includes third-party insurance, as required by Malaysian law. It does not cover damage to the scooter, theft, or your own injuries. If damage is your fault, you pay up to an excess of RM1,500 (150cc and below) or RM2,000 (155cc to 350cc), plus a possible loss-of-use charge. Travel insurance that covers scooter riding is worth having.

Cancellation. The booking deposit isn't refundable on a cancel or no-show, but you can change the date once with at least 48 hours' notice, subject to availability.

A sample week budget

Say it's September, you want a Honda Beat for 7 days, staying in Pantai Cenang:

That's roughly RM297–RM317 you won't get back for the week, plus petrol (whatever your week's riding adds up to). On top of that you temporarily put down a RM100 refundable deposit (paid as part of the RM105 online charge — the RM100 comes back when the scooter returns in the same condition; the RM5 card fee is the non-refundable part already counted above). In peak season (November to April) there's no 10% discount and daily rates are higher, so budget above RM280 for the rental.

Summary

For a week, start with the daily rate times seven — RM210–RM560 for the models listed above, while the 300cc+ bikes work out to about RM1,050 for seven days. Add a refundable RM100–RM200 deposit (returned when the scooter comes back in the same condition), petrol for the riding you do, and delivery if you're away from the airport. Apply the May–October 4+ day discount where it fits, mind the 24-hour clock, and you've got a clear, no-surprises week budget. Questions on your exact dates or model?
